Since his retirement in 2008, Sidney has been enjoying time with his wife and grandchildren. His love, however, has always been wine. Sidney has over 42 years of experience in the wine industry. He began as a sales representative for D. A. Rosow Distributors and was with the company for 8 years. Sid found his way to Brescome Barton Distributors where he spent the remainder of his wholesale career. Through hard work and determination, he became a wine manager in the company. During this time, Sidney was also a wine educator at Manchester Community College for over 8 years. His classes were part of the continuing education program at the college. After 30 years in the wholesale industry, he wanted a more hands on career dealing with the public. With his vast wine knowledge, and the gift of gab, Sidney procured employment with the Cordial Shoppe in Old Saybrook. For 12 years, he was the general manager and wine consultant there. Even though he is enjoying his retirement, Sidney is still a source of knowledge and continues to be a wealth of information, and only a phone call away.

Maria grew up in the restaurant business. She was born 3 months after her parents had opened their establishment. It was there she was introduced to the world of wines. After 28 years in the industry, the family looked for a business with a slower pace. They found the Cordial Shoppe in Old Saybrook. Having no knowledge about wines, she, along with her family, was thrown head first into the field. While sorting out the general differences between a restaurant and wine shop, she tried to absorb all she could about wines. Maria learned about wines whenever she could. Her main source of information was Sidney Rabin, the wine consultant for the store. With only 9 years of experience, Maria is still learning every day. When not at the family business, Maria spends her time at home with her husband and 2 children, where she is imparting her knowledge to the next generation of wine lovers.
