ShoreTalk's Featured Guest: State Representative Phil Miller (36th District) & Charles Rothenberger (Connecticut Fund for the Environment)

DESCRIPTION:  Phil Miller and Charles Rothenberger give us an update on The Preserve, a 934 acre forest that is home to three important watersheds that border the towns of Essex, Westbrook & Old Saybrook.  Proposals to develop this parcel of land have been contested by folks concerned about losing one the last pristine pieces of land along the Sound, particularly as this land is geologically unsuited for building.  Developing the land, therefore, will necessarily compromise the environment in this delicate ecology.

Phil Miller is the Connecticut State Representative of the 36th District in Connecticut, representing Haddam, Chester, Deep River and Essex.  Prior to this office, Mr. Miller was First Selectman of the town of Essex.  Mr. Miller, is the Vice Chair of the Environment Committee and has a perfect scorecard on the environment.

Charles Rothenberger is the Staff Attorney for the Connecticut Fund for the Environment.  He joined CFE in August of 2003 and is a member of the Connecticut and Massachusettes Bar. He is a 2001 honors graduate of the University of Connecticut School of law where he edited the Connecticut Journal of International Law.

Kathleen discusses The Preserve with Charles Rothenberger & Representative Phil Miller.
